Vehicle Electrification Technician Certification Overview
This certification is the result of five years of preparation through the NSF project grant – Northwest Engineering and Vehicle Technology Exchange (NEVTEX) Due # 1700708.
Outcomes of the Levels 1-3 educational courses are designed to provide instructors and technicians with information and skills that are inclusive of technical metrics governed in core technologies and industry standards of HV safety and safety systems.
The certification requires experience with high voltage personal protective equipment (PPE) and vehicle high voltage vehicle safety systems utilized in the light, medium, and heavy-duty BEV/PHEV/HEV vehicles. Those enrolled in the certification will be introduced to PPE and specialized tools/equipment associated with servicing high voltage systems. Topical areas including manual service disconnects, interlock circuits, high voltage bus discharge, and isolation fault monitoring circuits will encompass the core vehicle system elements focused within the Level 1 Certification.
