TROY, MI. (March 13, 2024) – The Electric Vehicle Public Key Infrastructure Consortium (EVPKI Consortium) is excited announce the development of the EVPKI Certificate Trust List (CTL).  The consortium’s member led Policy Authority unanimously selected the team of DigiCert, the world’s foremost PKI Certificate Authority, and Eonti, a leading PKI professional services consulting firm.

SAE ITC used an open procurement approach, issuing the CTL development solicitation to ten international PKI suppliers operating in the EV sector.  The EVPKI Consortium Policy Authority members rigorously reviewed the proposals received to arrive at the selection of DigiCert/Eonti. 

“SAE ITC is pleased to engage with DigiCert and Eonti, who will collaborate with EVPKI members to develop the EVPKI CTL,” said Tim Weisenberger, SAE ITC Senior Program Manager. “This team brings deep PKI experience across critical infrastructure industries and leverages their work in the SAE EVPKI Platform development.”

The EVPKI Consortium team will use agile development process to complete the work on an aggressive schedule and SAE ITC will publish the CTL freely to industry in 2024.  The CTL will be the basis for onboarding industry PKI providers to the SAE EVPKI governance model to create an interoperable PKI solution for the EV industry.  This PKI solution will create a competitive EV Sector PKI marketplace that does not exist today.

This is an opportune time for companies to join the EVPKI. The Certificate Trust List development is a critical step to interoperability and members may oversee the technical development and review the CTL before its publication.
